I've also put this up on our Wedding Website, and details about parking and what not will be included in the invitations (if I ever get them sent out...). So if you're a guest at our wedding, plan on coming to Paola a little early to check out the Paola Heartland 7th Annual Car Show! It should be lots of fun! (and could everyone PLEASE keep their fingers crossed that this "live music" they speak of does not interfere with our wedding ceremony!! I will have a panic attack if it does...)Thursday, May 21, 2009
Car Show!
I may or may not have mentioned this yet...but on the day of our wedding there will be an antique car show in the Paola square. How cool is that?! Looking out the windows of Evergreen Events, we will see hundreds of sweet looking cars, and you better believe I will be coaxing as many of the owners as possible to let us take pictures with their sweet rides! Anyway, I finally found some more information on the show, including this flyer:

Panic attack...numero dos
Seriously. Could I be any more of an idiot?! (Do not answer that question.)
So I get home from work yesterday, and see my lovely box from VistaPrint, which I know contains my invitations. Woo hoo! I'm pumped, I go straight to the kitchen for a knife so I can crack that box open! I open them, and at first I'm thoroughly pleased. They look great! Actually better than I anticipated. As I'm getting one of each item (there's the actual invite, the RSVP post card, and a map card) so I can put together a little mock up, I discover problem #1: the rsvp and map card do not fit inside the envelope that came with the invitation. DUH. I never even THOUGHT about the fact that the 2 cards were almost an inch wider than the invite. ARGH. So I get over that - I can always order different envelopes. Then of course we read over each item carefully to ensure that our names are spelled right and what not, and what do I find?! A TYPO. Get out of town. As many times as I read over these stupid things, I can't believe I never saw it. If you know me, you know that I am OCD, and I cannot HANDLE a typo. It's only one letter in one word on the map card, but I just can't deal with it. Sooooooo I re-ordered the map cards withOUT the typo. Basically I spent all of the money I originally saved, in having to re-order everything. Awesome. Not to mention the ridiculous amount I spent on shipping charges because I rushed EVERYTHING. GAH.
So the panic attack has subsided, but I'm beginning to wonder if I will EVER get these stupid things sent out...

2 months and counting
Holy crap. As of today we are 2 months out from the big day!! How CRAZY is that?! I feel like I still have 10 million things to do. YIKES. But I am making progress. I actually took off work Friday to run a whole bunch of wedding errands. That helped, although I didn't quite get to mark everything off my list. I guess I overestimated how much time is in a day. :)
The main task at hand this week is INVITATIONS. They should come in today, and then it's up to Jess and I to address, stuff, stamp, and seal the deal on those bad boys!
I also have several DIY projects going that I need to finish up this week and next...still haven't finished the FG baskets, and now I decided to DIY the programs as well. Oh and I also bought a basket to hold the programs that I need to spray paint and jazz up. :)
So as you can see, things are coming along. I have all of the decor for the ceremony, aside from what the florist is doing, and almost everything for the centerpieces. Just need to order some flower petals and hunt down a few more vases. Other than that I think I have all the decor pretty well lined out.
I had my first dress fitting on Saturday...it went great! (meaning yes, the dress still fits! :) I will be going back in a couple weeks for a second fitting, and to see the veil she is making me - oh, I guess I should mention, the veil I got from eBay is white. My dress is ivory. Once I put it on it was pretty obvious, so we decided to ditch that. Barb (The Lady Who Makes Dresses) is awesome, and is going to whip up a veil for me in ivory. I really need to work on finding my jewelry now.
It's really exciting to see so many things crossed off of my master to-do list I made back in February, but don't worry there is still PLENTY to do. So let the countdown begin...2 months to go!!

FINALLY
I FINALLY ordered the invitations yesterday. FINALLY. I have seriously been working on these since February, maybe even earlier. Holy cow. Who takes that long to design invites?!? One indecisive bride named Brooke, that's who. But it's done, they're ordered, and I couldn't be happier. Well, ok, I could - if they were all stuffed and addressed and in the mail I might be a tad happier. Still, I'm thrilled that this process is almost done. I really thought the invites would be the easiest thing for me. I was just going to pop in to Party City (where I used to work, and was the self-proclaimed wedding invitation specialist :D ), pick some out of a book and call it a day! Well then I decided I could just do them myself for much cheaper. BAD IDEA. Not bad, just time consuming. So here I am, 5 months later, just placing the order. And don't tell anyone, but I really didn't save THAT much. Not as much as I had imagined anyway. But I do have a super uniquie and modern design that I LOVE, so I guess that makes it all worth it. :) Well, I'll give you a tiny sneak peek, but of course I'm not ruining the surprise and posting a picture - just one little piece.
That's all you get!! And technically this piece isn't even on the invitation, but it's the only little part I felt like showing you. So there. :P

So there. :P My goal is to get these puppies all addressed, stuffed, stamped, and ready to go next week so that they can go in the mailbox the week of Memorial day. We'll see how that goes. :) But if all goes as planned you can expect one of these bad boys in your mailbox in about 2 1/2 weeks!!
